Micheal Jackson 1958 to 2009

King of POP died today,

Most radio stations in M'sia played his music in memories and as a tribute to his acheivements.
Celebrating MJ''s life.

The world are saddened by his departure especially those growing up to his music. i.e 30-50 yrs old now.

A legend since his era of 80's. Moonwalk, the single studded glove, black shoes and white socks, military-like jackets, aviator sun-shades. That decribes the legend.

Man-in the mirror: one of his best songs,

Transformers : Rise of the Fallen

Went to watch Transformers today. Got tickets after queuing for 30 mins to see the 6 pm show. Then I had to rush off right after the show ended to meet a client.

During the excitment part, Megatron's master was winning and the autobot leader was killed and then resurrected, I was intense while keeping an eye on time. This movie took a good 2 hr 24 mins. It's a long movie but much better than the first installment.

Ironhide was great as the GMC truck transformed was so damn cool. One can buy a real truck with similar modifications in the US. It's GM topkick 6500 pickup. I enjoyed the last 30 mins of the show for the climax it gave. Also due to the time constrains I had that added to the suspense.

Items to note:
1) Transform into a lady college student? Is that possible, if so, why not just into the President.
2) Optimus Prime can die and be ressurrected, the boy dies and meets other primes? The matrix destroyed and then reformed?

Overall : 8/10 in my books.

By the way, the sound system at the cinema rocks. Just love it.

parrot and the daisy shot for today!

I took this shot a while back but did not post it up. Since the parrot are relative un-afraid of humans, they allowed me to get in close enough to photograph. I think the lens was a zoom at 80mm. This particular parrot or some call it macaw perched a trunk higher. It was a lazy afternoon and macaw prim themselves rather well, therefore it spreads its wings allowing me to capture the exact moment. As the macaw rested in the shades, exposure was a compromised; to keep some details and highlights (bright sunny part).

Here we see some daisies. Daisies have many colors and patterns as seen in my other postings. However, nothing to shout, I like the soft color and the high maroon set upon this flower. My focus was manual and that can be challenging on a small viewfinder. Getting exposure correct without metering proves tricky. Maybe it's time to invest in a proper macro lens.

Fuss over Edison Chen, our own young brands shunned

I agree with this contributor.

The STAR Online:

Fuss over Edison Chen, our own young brands shunned

I AM disgusted and amazed with the publicity given to Edison “sex scandal boy” Chen on his newly launched outlet.

When Liz Wong’s “not-even-nude” pictures were found leaked, it shook the nation, and we criticised the victim like she had no more value. And when Dr Chua Soi Lek’s secretly filmed video was released, we “tried” to make sure that he does not return to the government scene.

But when a former Hong Kong star launched a new brand in Bangsar, this young man and his brand got full media coverage and was featured in the “most important page” in the paper. I am not writing to judge nor am I writing to release anger on the EDC brand. But coming from a young heart and the youth community, I feel betrayed and I feel a sense of injustice.

There are so many young brands out there, brands which are established and built with all the passion and toughness by our very own young Malaysians. These young brands are trying hard to get press coverage.

We have been talking so much about youth development, youth entrepreneurship. Is the EDC story more important than the many inspiring stories our Malaysian youths have got to share?

Aussies touched by plight of Pulau Ketam’s abandoned dogs

Aussies touched by plight of Pulau Ketam’s abandoned dogs

By WANI MUTHIAH

KLANG: When Australians Sarah Wren and Shannon Muche read that dogs had been abandoned on Pulau Selat Kering, they immediately wanted to help.

“We read what had happened when we were in Vietnam and decided that we would help care for the rescued dogs when we came to Malaysia en route to London,” said Wren, 28.

Animal lovers: Muche (left) talking to Wren at the Furry Friends Farm in Kundang.

Both Wren and Muche contacted Furry Friends Farm (FFF) founder Sabrina Yeap as soon as they arrived in Malaysia.

They are currently volunteering their services by helping to take care of the dogs rescued from Pulau Selat Kering at the FFF sanctuary in Kundang near Rawang.

The dogs were dumped on Pulau Selat Kering by Pulau Ketam residents recently with the endorsement of the Klang municipal councillor in charge of the island Tee Beng Lee.

Wren, who owned a pet accessories business in Brisbane before selling it off to travel several months ago, said she was shocked to read about the dogs.

“It is disgusting to know that people can be so cruel as to go out of their way to get rid of the poor strays in such a manner,” she said.

Website developer Muche, also 28, concurred, adding that it would take a lot of time for the rescued dogs to get over their ordeal.

“The dogs are still frightened and frail. It will take a long time for them to be rehabilitated,” she said.

Muche said Tee must ensure that all the surviving dogs on Pulau Selat Kering are rescued.

“He must be made fully responsible to get the dogs back as well as make provisions to rehabilitate them,” she said.

red chilies

Red chilies are side delicacies for spice and taste in asian particularly Chinese food in South East Asia.

This photo was taken with a close up lens. UnCropped and with flash. I do hope the details and depth of field was satisfactory. What I liked most is the bright saturated red in the cut chilies.

Hope you enjoy it too!!

Parakeet Heliconia

Parakeet Heliconia: Heliconia is a genus of about 100 to 200 species of flowering plants native to the tropical Americas and the Pacific Ocean islands west to Indonesia. Common names for the genus include lobster-claws, wild plantains or false bird-of-paradise. The last term refers to their close similarity to the bird-of-paradise flowers (Strelitzia). Collectively, these plants are also simply referred to as heliconias.
