Anyone knows how to treat a budgie that suffers from diarrhea? we called the Vet, and was advised to use carbon/charcoal. I'm hand feeding it in liquid form now. Any other ideas?
Here's from my facebook.- Kenko Kook, called the vet again, Dr. said can feed her electrolyte at 1:1 ratio. We're gonna blend some ORS, (100 plus also can, after de-gassed). hmmmm, treatment is quite similar to human.
Note: animal handles stress different from humans. So, ...we just have to leave her alone.
As for the vent, (ass),Doc said "A little olive oil, may help the vent, but leave it for the time being". See MoreFriday at 1:32pm · · - Verlyn On no idea.. mayb some raw guavas??Friday at 2:35pm · ·
- Kenko KoShe's sleeping a lot. Resting. The doc said to monitor her for 48 hrs.
Have fed millets and seeds, dipped in ORS. I've tasted that ORS, it's salty stuffs. She's gotten a good 6-10 droplets of ORS and carbon water. I'm also glad there's Glu...cose anhydrous (means Glucose without water) in the ORS, should give her some strength. See MoreFriday at 7:39pm · · - Kenko Ko We've hand fed her some glucose (dextrose) water. The ORS glucose content is not sufficient. She's sleeping. Added some paper strips to make comfy.Yesterday at 1:29am · ·
- Kenko KoToday: It has past the 48 hrs monitoring time-frame. We sent her to vet @ Subang Jaya. This doc says glucose and ORS is ok but carbon is not recommended. (that totally oppose the first doc we called)./ Anyhow, older Doc gave her one injec...tion (antibiotics -linco streptomycin) and we have to feed her one time (de-worming medication). She regurgitate some food, but doc says it's normal. Normally, a budgie body temperature is 40-45C. So a cold fever is hard to notice. Hence, she sleeps a lot in the warm areas of the room. i.e in her box house.
She's very drowsy now.
I'm putting this all in words for the benefits of other budgie owners. See More2 seconds ago · · - Note: linco streptomysin (anitbiotics)- the budgie was injected at her (budgie) right wings with a very very fine stringe (needle) for painless. 0.1mg. (very very small dosage for a small bird).
